What makes La Plagne so special!
It is one of just seven active runs in Europe and 13 worldwide.

Built just over 30 years ago, the track forms part of the heritage and legacy of the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games.
It is unique in France and also serves as a ‘model’ for the redevelopment of a post-Olympic site.

The track and its team now have their sights set on the 2030 Winter Olympics!

Still used for sporting activities by French clubs, as well as for international training sessions and competitions, the track also offers tourist runs on three types of sled, as well as introductory sledding sessions.

Sensational turnout for first-time rides at the bobsleigh track

The track offers four progressively more thrilling experiences for the general public!
- Soft: Bob Raft – 4 passengers – self-propelled sled – 80 km/h – from 1m30 (recommended minimum age 10 years) – €55 per person.
- Medium: Speed Luge – 1 passenger lying flat on the ice, self-propelled sled – 90 km/h – from 16 years old – €135 per person
- Extreme (passenger version): Bob Racing – 3 passengers + 1 pilot – 120 km/h – 3G sensation on the shoulders – from 16 years old – €145 per person.
- Extreme (pilot version): introductory bobsleigh piloting experience – 1 pilot + 1 passenger – 80 km/h – ages 16 and over – €590 per person.

Comprehensive information about the track

A world first and exclusive to Plagne, this experience is truly breathtaking! Since summer 2024, two truly unique cabins have been running along the Glaciers cable car line, which reaches the Live 3000 summit at an altitude of 3,080 metres. These minimalist cabins are open to the elements, offering a front-row view of the majestic landscape.

Harnessed and secured by a lifeline, passengers are in direct contact with their surroundings: a semi-open slatted floor and no glass to block the view! At the end of the ascent, they find themselves at high altitude, over 3,000 m, in a world of rock in summer or snow in winter. Once at their destination, they can enjoy the panoramic terrace and have the option of a bite to eat at the Sixième Ciel café. The descent can be made on skis down red or black runs, or by taking the Glaciers cable car again – but the standard version this time.

This slightly mad idea, now a reality, is the result of two years’ work in collaboration with several partners: the impetus for the project came from the Société d’Aménagement de La Plagne (SAP), the ski area operator; the overall concept and design were supported by Compagnie des Alpes Développement; and the technical aspects were implemented by the manufacturer POMA.

A unique challenge that appealed to the latter: whilst the basic manufacturing principles of a conventional gondola are retained, the aim here is to offer an interior layout that guarantees the most discreet and rapid safety system possible for passengers, whilst retaining the thrill and sensation of height.

Spend the night in a hotel room unlike any other in the world, at an altitude of 2,400 metres, in a snow groomer converted into a luxury suite for two, with views of Mont Blanc. In addition to the ‘standard’ dates, three special and particularly romantic dates (including dinner) are scheduled for Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.

The ice tower in Champagny-en-Vanoise would undoubtedly be the training ground of choice for a certain superhero. But ordinary folk needn’t worry – there’s no need to feel stuck between a rock and a hard place! Strapped into a harness, wearing crampons and equipped with an ice axe and a helmet, anyone can attempt to climb the 22 metres.
At the foot of the tower, on the other end of the belay rope, the helpful advice of mountain guide Damien Souvy is invaluable for making the most of this experience, where all your senses are constantly on alert: sight to assess the best placement, hearing to tell if the ice axe has struck the right spot, and touch to feel the response of the living material that is ice.
Whilst the structure is made of metal, the ice is entirely natural. It is created on site by spraying water, in conditions of intense cold and using very specific techniques.
